100th Anniversary Display at District Office in Powell
 

The Shoshone Irrigation District is currently making plans for a celebration of 100 years of irrigation from the Garland Canal.  The celebration will be held on April 25, 2008.  Water was first turned into the Garland Canal on April 27, 1908 for delivery to the Homesteaders in and around Powell.  

The Celebration will include a Dinner, activities for kids and adults, some live music as well as a speaker or two from the Bureau of Reclamation.  The Homesteader Museum in Powell will have a display of photos and other memoribilia relating to the construction and history of the irrigation system.  There will also be a bus tour to view some of the main irrigation facilites.
